What SAR Does

 

  • SAR honors individuals for outstanding and unusual patriotic achievement on a national, regional and local level.
  • SAR honors persons for outstanding bravery and self sacrifice in the face of imminent danger.
  • SAR honors members of the United States Congress for outstanding service to the nation.
  • SAR honors outstanding high school students annually with the presentation of a Good Citizenship Award.
  • SAR honors outstanding Junior and Senior ROTC cadets annually with the presentation of the ROTC Award.
  • SAR honors Law Enforcement officials for outstanding service with a Law Enforcement Award.
  • SAR honors an outstanding Eagle Scout annually at the branch, state and national level. The national winner receives a college scholarship.
  • SAR honors an outstanding student for winning the Knight Essay Contest.
  • SAR assists veterans in Veterans Hospitals.
  • SAR conducts a national historical orations contest annually.
  • SAR sponsors Boy Scout troops and local societies of the Children of the American Revolution [C.A.R.].
  • SAR places SAR Markers at the gravesites of Revolutionary War Patriots and SAR Members.
  • SAR commemorates Revolutionary War Patriots with appropriate ceremonies.
  • SAR participates in new citizenship swearing-in ceremonies.
  • SAR observes patriotic anniversaries.
